how do you feel about the state doing an end-around on tabor and keeping all the pot taxes?

found this buried in a cbs story regarding the bill, which focused on the use of pesticides on marijuana.

The bill also sends voters a ballot measure asking for permission for the state to keep some $58 million in new pot taxes despite constitutional spending restrictions that would otherwise require them to be refunded.

we all knew this was coming and, while i'm ultimately fine with the state keeping the money, i'm a bit indignant that pot would be singled out for this. of course, tabor is a fat sack of shit.

I think the state should buy every citizen an eighth of top shelf indica.

us up.
I don't care if they spend it on something we need at all. The potholes are worse than ever this year and the states coffers are bulging with the pot money. Then there are schools and high utilities along with property taxes and so on and so forth. And fucking Colorado Springs can't afford to maintain the parks or turn on the streetlights. What a back asswards part of the state.
But I guess austerity rules.

education, healthcare services (including mh), roads...

i live up in fort collins and it will be another 60 years before they widen 25 all the way up here if we don't put a bond issue on the ballot. that road has been a disaster for as long as i've been driving.

3. I'm fine with the state keeping and disbursing the funds under one condition.

No state or local agency/government is eligible for funds derived from mj taxes which engages in pre-employment or random pot screening. I'm beyond tired of being discriminated against like I'm doing something worse than consuming alcohol, and letting others impugn my character on that basis.

6. Well, as one who grew up in Colorado, I found myself wondering about Tabor.

Would that be H.A.W. Tabor? Or maybe Baby Doe? Then there's the Tabor Opera House (named for HAW, I believe) in downtown Denver. Not sure it's still there--haven't been back to my old home state in quite awhile. Sorry--don't mean to make light of the issue you posted about, I know it's serious stuff, but the link wasn't clear about what Tabor might mean, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't refer to HAW or Baby Doe, but oh, the memories it brought from that colorful part of Colorado history!

Cheers to you up there in NoCo!

Colorado Legislature needs to introduce an amendment removing TABOR from the Colorado Constitution.

Why haven't they done so? Not that I don't mind the revenues, but yes, for crissake, use the pot taxes to fix the potholes or do a massive repaving project.

This is exactly why TABOR is not needed now.

And he's a slumlord that's also wanted in Ohio.
