Our tornadoes
We were anxiously listening to the reports Thursday as a tornado was on the ground near Berthoud and was heading toward Longmont and sirens were going off. Channel 7 Denver was doing a good job but no other channels seemed to be telling us just what was happening. After the storm was over there was a lot of good coverage and pictures of the sad destruction of homes and property, even on all national channels.
The Weather Channel picked it up quickly and showed the path of the storms. However, the anchor talked at length about what was happening to a town in Colorado named Burt-hound. This may be picky but it seems to me that almost all national media covering important news and disasters like the recent storms and flooding in Texas mispronounce many of the towns, rivers, and neighborhoods where they are happening. I tried to email the contact page for the Weather Channel but it wouldn't let me write anything so I called their phone number and actually talked to a human. I said I could not understand why anchors and reporters could not take the time (about 30 seconds on google) to find out how to say the names so that the people living there, and the rest of us who want to know where the event is taking place, will understand.
