Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet opposes a universal healthcare ballot measure Colorado voters will consider in November.
Michael does not think that single payer is the right approach to solving our health care problems, and in particular has concerns about putting a complete overhaul of our health care system, including a massive tax increase, into the State Constitution where it cant be changed, Bennets campaign spokesman Andrew Zucker told The Colorado Independent.
Bennets position on the ColoradoCare ballot measure, which if passed would make Colorado the first state in the nation with universal healthcare, has been unclear for months.
In November, he brushed aside questions when approached in a Senate hallway by a POLITICO reporter, when asked about the proposal, saying he was focused on a vote he was taking in the U.S. Senate that day.

(4,107 posts)Bennet might as well be a Republican. I despise him, though I've never met him personally.
The one thing I will NEVER forgive Obama for was when he endorsed Bennet over Andrew Romanoff for the senate--in a PRIMARY!!!! We could have a Bernie Sanders-style legislator in the senate, but instead we have a true Clintonian asshole. Thanks to Obama. Ugh.

(2,012 posts)but right now he's the only Dem that can hold that seat and so much better than Gardner and the Repug reps. We can never win progressive policies we so much want by sitting out elections and waiting for the perfect progressive. I will contact Bennet immediately as I always do when he takes a stupid position like this one and panders to his conservative constituency and big insurance companies. Sadly we lost Udall by not working hard enough to make sure all the great progressives in Colorado stand up.

(24,135 posts)I know the Millennials who moved here in droves are hell bent on making Colorado a red state again by refusing to vote for Hillary.
Just spent time talking to one of the thousands of Millennial implants from _______ BernieOrBust guy - when I mentioned he could turn CO back to Red. His response was oh that won't happen.
Bullshit - we lost Udall in 2014 for the same damn reason. No instant gratification - Millennials down on Obama and they don't vote in midterms and the result is Cory Gardner.

Our governor is a flippin' joke and sorry but Bennett needs to go. We need single payer here, badly.

(24,135 posts)You think CO won't go RED you don't know Colorado.
How many more people voted for weed than Obama?
Wanna talk rigged?
Colorado had a whopping 127,000 people participate vs how many people voted for Hickenlooper and Bennet?

(5,761 posts)If you think for one second this state will go red I have news for you.
Legalizing pot passed and the minute that is threatened people will show up in droves

(24,135 posts)Hickenlooper, Bennet, Hillary?
Trump and his AG pick Chris Christie perhaps?
What happened in 2014 - why did Udall lose?
Which group stayed home in droves in midterms?
I'm not seeing you know much with this lame answer - "you know" - with no backup. I was a Dean delegate in 04, Obama 08, alternate in 12. My first vote in Colorado was 72.
Mean while the weed industry is still breeding grounds for Hillary hate and Bernie/Busters.

That being said, I'm sorry but there is no way Colorado is going to Red.
If you speak of the GE, your side has work to do as she lost CO to Bernie and isn't especially liked her and her stance on pot & how she is propped up by the private prison industry is not helping her.
Udall lost because people are sick of incumbents. They are fed up with DC.
We have a Gov who drinks fracking water FFS and who is completely bought & paid for. Hickenlooper needs to go, I'll say that and I hope Hillary chooses him for VP so we don't have to deal with him on the local level any longer
My side would have kicked your ass if there had been a primary vs disenfranchising caucus. Like I said in my post, the one you didn't read, over one million people voted for Hickenlooper/Bennet - 127,000 voted in the caucus. My 90 year old aunt wasn't able to vote for Hillary - how should she have worked harder? My neighbors with two babies couldn't go, how should they have worked harder? Anyone who works at night couldn't go, how should they have worked harder?
We have a county called Weld and there's gas under that county. They vote, they write letters, e-mails, and attend EPA meetings in masses. I know - cuz I attended one in the Bush years when all the liberal types walked out they were so disgusted. Not me, I stayed and was the last person to speak.
It was so nicer when we imported oil from Saudi Arabia because and they suffered all the environmental problems. That's not the case anymore. Countries don't have to rely on SA or Russia - how terrible. Fracking is nasty, but so is coal ash in rivers, pipelines leaking. In the meantime solar and wind are creating more jobs.
Good to know Sanders supporters are just fine with a guy like Udall and a republican taking over because god forbid Udall was an incumbent. Did you help create this by not voting? Are you glad Cory Gardner is our new senator and who do you want for our next Governor?
Never mind you don't answer questions, you just "know" and spew a lot of nonsense about our elected leaders in Colorado. Rage on Bro, rage on.

(5,761 posts)You're younger. Who else says "rage on bro, rage on" lol
Your side wouldn't have kicked anything here in CO. Sorry but again, see the pot issue. So why do you support a candidate who is against our industry locally and for locking people up for petty crimes?
Sorry but if anything, Colorado will go libertarian before it ever goes Republican again. Look at the mountains, an area which leans libertarian and green. Those are Dem voters, for now. The second though you elect a Dem who threatens the marijuana industry here in Colorado ( we know ALL Republicans do) you can kiss it adios.
Weld county, ya we have gas under the surface. We also have people who are lighting their damn water on fire. We also have a thing called Rocky Mountain Arsenal out towards Commerce City. When it was active, there was a fracking well there. Are you aware that the US Gov't closed it because of earthquakes? I bet you weren't. You speak of coal being nasty yet sorry this is Colorado and environmental issues here are damn important.Look what happened last year on the Animas in the south and the spill which ensued.
But I just spew nonsense don't I? lol Uh huh.
