Got vaccinated today with the first shot for covid

I'm with SCL Health. Last week I hoped to schedule an appointment at Lutheran up on 38th Ave in Wheat Ridge but they had none available. So I got an appointment at Adams County in Brighton. The drive was really quick via I-76. Half hour from north Lakewood.

We left the house this morning at 10 and were home by around 11:30. I was way early but they took me right in.

I just checked and Lutheran now has appointments available starting late afternoon tomorrow. So just an fyi if anyone is associated with SCL.

Btw, Adams County scheduled my second visit for mid February. It's a Saturday. I'd like to see if I can get the second appointment at Lutheran. But I don't know if they're administering the Pfizer like I received today. So I might just forget switching appointments.

I'm not feeling any side effects after 2+ hours. Hope you two are doing good, too.

Btw, I'm originally from "the city". Brooklyn/Queens girl, here.

and always understood "the city" was NYC....moved to Cobleskill NY in 1971..and the "city" for the locals was Albany NY.

We both had our shots about 12 noon today....no side effects.

We've been isolating here at home since March 1st. so this was big. I did get a flu shot at Walgreens in September. But I haven't been around so many people since I last shopped in a store in late February of last year. Lots of people at the vaccine clinic today.

They are Kaiser members living in Adams County. They really would like to get the shot but Kaiser is a joke--my parents are about number 40,000 on the list. Meanwhile people in their 60s are getting the shot. In fact we know some in their 50s who are not eligible, but nonetheless received the shot at Adams County. The state really needs to work with Kaiser to get the job done. If you've been to Kaiser you know they have a huge number of old, sick members. We really don't have a clue about what Kaiser is doing but whatever it is, it's not working.

We try the internet, enter a phone number and now receive up to 15 robo calls about medicare enrollment daily. I try to keep a perspective that this is only the second month of vaccinations. Certainly those who are eligible, no matter the age, should get the shot. But look around, older people in Colorado are not happy. News reports are that around 40% of those over 70 have gotten the shot. But the state has opened up the vaccinations to another phase without finishing the job on the first phase! Anger indeed!

Personally, I'm not worried about the shot. I'm careful, and things won't improve until more than 70% of people in the area--indeed the world!--get the shot. BTW, it's cool that you took i-76 to Adams county. I-76 from i-70 is probably one of the quickest routes in the Denver area. And Adams County is right on that road We could get there pretty quick if we took the expensive E-470 toll road. It's better to take the scenic, cheaper route through Brighton.

in Boulder for many weeks so I drove over to Longmont and they looked up the list and said I was 17,500 on a list of 60,000 and that wasn't too bad (wonder what bad would be). The workers were all very kind and said if they had a no-show they would call me. I got home at 10am and the social worker called me at 1pm and asked if I could come over in the afternoon. I said YES! and got my first vaccination in just a few minutes with no pain and will get my second Feb.26. This would be hilarious if it weren't for the thousands still on a list. I'm glad Gov Polis works hard and is always positive about the whole vaccine mess but I would really rather hear bad news that was factual than the confusing and invalid information we've gotten ever since the vaccines came out.

Yes, the people at Kaiser are so nice. When I go to the pharmacy, I'm usually a little confused but they are always friendly and polite.
