Today's Denver Post has a front-page article in the Business section on fracking and drilling in Greeley. I'm always shocked at the maps, the numbers of wells (700 in just Greeley and 250 more planned), and how much acreage in the state has been locked up by large operators. And local companies drilling in residential areas and near schools.
Good article but you can't trust the Post, Hickenlooper or legislators because they get so much money from big oil, gas, and mining. Even the EPA has backed down on fracking and the Keystone pipeline, although all their studies show an impact on health and air quality. Even if they could prove there is no impact on health why would we risk our precious water by allowing billions of gallons of it to be contaminated and made unusable while we have a glut of oil and gas, and companies making obscene profits.
Great to see good people in Weld like the Greeley Communities United working hard to stop this "runaway train"; sure hope they can change the rigid mind sets of Greeley City Council and the Weld Commissioners. We're making a difference down here I hope.!
