HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Federal statistics show consumer spending in Connecticut in 2012 was among the highest in the nation and has rebounded since the end of the recession.

Numbers released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Commerce show consumer spending per person was $45,800 in 2012. It was the second highest in New England, surpassed by Massachusetts where per-person spending was $47,308.

Consumer spending in Connecticut rose 10 percent to 2012 from 2009 when the recession ended.
