Attorney General Beau Biden statement, shooting:

Attorney General Beau Biden made the following statement regarding today’s shooting at the New Castle County Courthouse:

“Today’s tragic attack was not a random act of violence, but rather the result of a longstanding child custody dispute that has lasted in the Delaware Courts for several years. Thanks to the bravery of the Capitol Police officers who responded, and were wounded in the process, a greater tragedy was averted. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of this crime and their families.”

It was weird for me to read about it, because I know the scene. The metal detector is right there but the shooting was in the lobby before the metal detectors.

The side entrance with the revolving door is now blocked.

There is a big sign "Thank you Capitol Police" with a lot of notes written on it.

I'm thinking it was not so much a matter of courthouse security as the location of the victim. I hope they don't change everything and make it harder to get in just because of the actions of one idiot. He would have murdered the victim wherever she was.

Now how would that have prevented this shooting?

They spent a lot of money on the revolving door and now it's all gone to waste. Sometimes I think we believe we have to punish ourselves if our fellow man goes off the rails.
