(8,387 posts)The jury in the historic trial of the State of Delaware versus Auditor Kathy McGuiness has declared her guilty on three of five charges.
The verdict was announced shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Kent County Courthouse in Dover.
She was found guilty of conflict of interest, structuring, and official misconduct, and not guilty on felony theft and intimidation.
McGuiness was the first sitting statewide Delaware official to stand trial while in office.
She has not resigned and the General Assembly has not found that they have the authority to remove her.
In many districts, there is no D primary, so it is the only race on the ballot in those districts.
You may want to check DelawareLiberal.net for additional info on other races.

(37,303 posts)Oh it looks like I should vote for York if she’s on the ballot

(8,387 posts)Lydia York, who has not been convicted of anything, is running to replace McGuinness, and is supported by the party.

(12,296 posts)It’ll be +3 for Sokola (if his Senate race is listed. Heard it wasn’t on the primary since he was the only Dem) and Romer for sure. Probably vote York for auditor since McGuinness has had so many legal/nepotism issues. Klima (incumbent/fire fighter/first responder) for state rep for district 25 sounded good, but I’m going with Romer (educator), who is a newbie. Klima said no mention of women’s rights or LGBTQ+ issues that I’ve seen. That was a hard decision for me because I tend to go with incumbents if they’ve done a good job.

(37,303 posts)I’m a bit ashamed to say I haven’t been following this all that much. I guess you’re right if we don’t have complaints with our incumbents, we’re usually fine with them. My polling place has been changed back to AI duPont high school which is in walking distance for me. For a while it was at Cab Calloway school so I’m glad they changed it back

(12,296 posts)Daughter is catching a ride with me and I reminded our son of the times and polling place before he ran out the door to classes this morning. Hubby (a registered Repub) said he's not voting since he can't vote in the Dem primary. I told him there is only one way to fix it and that's change his registration (DUH!!!). He had the perfect opportunity when he renewed his license last month
I hope repub Mey doesn't win her primary. She's on the board of DE Right to Life. The only thing good about her that I can tell from her site is that she has 2 german shepherds.
