announced Monday's lighting is closed to media. So, President Trump's lighting the tree can't be covered as a news event, only watched as a produced tv show.

It's not like they have any involvement outside of the optics anyway. It's so phony, just as well. I hope nobody covers it and nobody watches whatever they hawk after the fact.

WTOP, the local all-news station, warns people about the lighting so they can avoid the jammed streets. I don't go to the lighting, but I've managed to see the tree itself, all lit up, for the last few years.
