Street closures planned Saturday in downtown Washington for pro-Trump rallies
By Dana Hedgpeth
Dec. 9, 2020 at 7:56 a.m. EST
D.C. police announced this week they will close streets in parts of downtown Washington on Saturday amid planned demonstrations in support of President Trumps efforts to overturn the results of the election.
The street closures will go into effect about 6 a.m. Saturday and will be enforced through the end of the day, police said. Parking will be prohibited along some nearby streets. Police warned some streets might also be closed at times on Friday.
The first rally is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Capitol. The largest is expected to begin at noon at Freedom Plaza, led by a group called Women for America First. A permit application filed with the National Park Service indicates organizers expect about 5,000 attendees.
The rallies in support of Trumps efforts to overturn the results of the election he lost to President-elect Joe Biden come two days before the electoral college will meet and vote in state capitals across the nation.

It may be moot now that SCOTUS has turned down the Texas lawsuit. I'll stay off the Metro till virus calms down, have a couple of things to film alone in rural places now anyway.
H Street is closed along the north end of Lafayette park. Activists are staffing a round-the-clock vigil along the perimeter stocked with coffee, snacks and a sound system playing go-go. Groups with Trump merch have been walking through but havent stuck around long.
