Learn to Fly: Foo Fighters reopen 9:30 Club with surprise concert

The 9:30 Club was back up and running Thursday night, reopening its doors for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic with a special guest in the Foo Fighters headlining its first show.
The surprise concert sold out immediately after the music venues confirmed the rock bands appearance.
I was one of the lucky few that scored a place at the concert with the help of a complimentary ticket to cover the show and figured Id take my Twitter followers along for the ride, especially since this was my first visit to the new 930, which opened in 1996.

(5,158 posts)5. I spent a lot of time in both when I was much younger, saw a ton of bands
Everyone from Bad Brains to Maceo Parker. They were always cool about underage attendance, you just got giant black Xs marked on both hands. By the time the new 9:30 opened I was 21.
Saw a lot of great music at the 9:30, the Capitol Ballroom (ugh), The Bayou, and The Birchmere in Alexandria (old and new on that one, too). Once covid is truly over, Id like to start going out to see live music again.
Edit: and I forgot about the Roxy! Damn, Im getting old.
