Florida
Related: About this forumAnyone here from south Florida?
I think a meet up might be fun sometime. An outdoor park or beach or a celebration after vaccinations.
We are still part of the popular vote count even if not the EV, and we deserve a party. Everyone kicks poor Florida but there are still plenty of good democrats here.

(933 posts)Stay with zoom or better yet, email DU to add visual chat as an option. I dont leave the house to meet my own grown up kids, especially now that we approach an catastrophic infection point with the virus. They reported 195,000 cases yesterday.
Now, imagine if each of those people had interaction with five people every day...and those people interacted with five people...

(4,510 posts)I'm like 4 hours from there now. I am going to contact the democratic club here to find some friends lol. The ratio here is like 15,000 r's to 8,000 d's. It's that redneck. Right now cause of covid I'm not venturing out, aside from going to the grocery store every couple of weeks, but once I'm able I fully intend to do that. My house mates are actually Dump supporters, too, so I'm screwed. lol. They're fully indoctrinated.

(4,044 posts)My wife and I were part of a dance club in our retirement community.
That club, and all others, suspended operations back in March.
It could be a long time until we can resume face-to-face dancing with multiple partners.
To vaccinations -- cheers!

(1,946 posts)Tavernier is a few hours from Naples where I've been since 89. Back in the early 80's my in laws lived on Largo; sometimes we would brunch on islamorada, but the best time to go was always on mother's day when tiny tim would perform! Those were fun times.

(13,258 posts)We take him and his roommate out to lunch when we go up there every couple months. Lots of outdoor eateries, and tables are spaced every other. We went to Doc Fords last time on the water and felt very safe. The boys are in the dorms where the rules are very stringent. I think my gs sleeps in his mask, lol. I never see him without.

(16,953 posts)needless to say, that plan was aborted. Will be staying in California for at least another year, or until a vaccine is widespread. Then we hope to revisit the move. If we do pull it off, we'll stop by to say hi!

(24,588 posts)A morning's drive!
Last time I drove down US 1 south of Homestead and into the Keys was probably in the 90's. I took a mini Vacay to Key West about 10 years ago, but took the high speed ferry from Ft. Myers Beach.
I've been thinking of taking a long weekend and coming down to my old stomping grounds! Eat at Ciro's near the Falls Shopping Center, go to Bloomingdales, stop by Keg South at 104th and US1.....
Lots of old memories in that area of the state. I love the upper keys as well. You are lucky to live in such a paradise! Except for the storms, of course!
Stay well and safe!
