Rubio compares U.S. Capitol storming with Black Lives Matter protests

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio released a video Friday comparing the attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob with Black Lives Matter protests, saying the unprecedented assault was similar to what the left had been “justifying” this past summer in cities across America.

“The events that we saw this week should sicken every single one of us ... Riots should be rejected by everyone, every single time,” Rubio said. “Now, are the left hypocrites? Absolutely. I remember what they now are calling ‘insurrection,’ they were justifying just this summer.”

The protests following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police in May were held nationwide for weeks, with further demonstrations after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha in August. Some did result in rioting and property damage, but most, including those in Orlando, were generally peaceful.

Rubio also called the media, particularly CNN and MSNBC, “outrageously biased … 100%,” saying that was a reason “why so many Americans have sought political shelter in divisive political movements and in conspiracy theories that offer them the promise of fighting back against it.”

There is NO comparison between what took place at the Capitol and the BLM movement and protests.

The rampage rioting at the US Capitol was egged on and approved by Donald Trump. He gave them his blessing. The BLM protests were legitimate in the continued killing of African-Americans at the hands of Police. Jacob Blake is a reminder of that. George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. Freddie Gray. Eric Gardner. Rayshon Brooks, and many more.

Like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio's complete 180 regarding Trump is DISGUSTING. His HYPOCRISY needs to be brought out ona daily basis.

Not all in the media will, but none should allow it. These people, some of whom were armed with the equipment one would use to take hostages and end lives, held an insurrection in the capitol building of the United States. They didn't just pick a random day for this evil. They did this while both houses of congress were in session, debating the handover of power from one presidential administration to another. This is not looters smashing up Wal-Mart.

Did anyone at a BLM protest incite people to loot and burn? Was anyone associated with BLM arrested for destroying property?

The BLM protestors never got anywhere near the Capitol, and in other cities were 99% peaceful. You can't blame BLM for a few anarchists/"black bloc" idiots who enjoy destroying property and setting fires. Also, BLM protestors were met with overwhelming police force and were arrested in large numbers.

Trump's right-wing paramilitary who gathered at his rally ? Few arrests. Very minimal police force. Stormed the US Capitol and some were actively hunting VP Pence and other legislators to kidnap or worse. A hangman's noose set up on Capitol property. This was the worst incident at the Capitol since 1814, when the British troops tried to burn it down.

THERE IS NO COMPARISON, RUBIO, YOU MORON. You know that. You're just trying to cover your own fascism-enabling ass and Trump's. Good luck against Ivanka Trump in 2022.
