Rep. Charlie Crist likely to launch campaign for Florida governor

Charlie Crist is making a "major announcement" Tuesday morning in St. Pete, and odds are strong that he'll tell us he plans to be the first Democrat to officially step up to challenge Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2022.

Driving the news: Crist formed a political committee named "Friends of Charlie Crist," which would allow him to start raising money for a 2022 state-level election, Florida Politics reports.

...about the last time he ran for Governor. On the heels of leaving the republican party, Crist ran. I will never forget how posters on here had nothing nice to say about him. Mind you, there was never an alternative offered. They just knew that they hated Crist because he'd been a republican. I think that attitude on here and by DEMS in the state helped elect Scott.

You are not telling the truth. He became a Democrat in 2012. He was defeated by only 1% of the vote.

When he ran for the senate, lost the republican nom to rubio and ran as an independent. Many here, I recall, promoted him over the democrat at the time.

Guys, this isn't good news. That was how the good buddies would wrap up their propaganda in my sticks of Seminole County. We received letters that were signed, "Friends of so-and-so" and it was paid for and written by the property rights sovereignty lawyers in the community.

Listen, there is no good news where good-buddy lawyers are involved. If they're not part of the sovereignty group, they're the other side of the formula. The chamber of commerce types. Lawyers who believe that there is no line between the private and the public. I had one gadfly tell me horror stories about the city attorney of the time. The lawyer would pass on money to friendlies to donate to their preferred candidates.

Charlie Crist might be the nicest guy ever, but he can't make it to where he wants to go without support from these ranks.
