... maybe one of the news orgs camped out in the area will buy it as a base. Of course, it would have to be a wealthy news corps.

Every owner in the collapsed building had a vested interest in maintaining the facade (pardon the pun) that everything was fine. Had the facts been made public when they first discovered structural issues, no one in that building could have given away their unit. Most owners don't want to know problems exist because their investments are at stake.

Over the last three years real estate prices in South Florida have been skyrocketing, particularly waterfront condos. The Herald should find out how many owners in the collapsed building sold their units following the 2018 engineering reports, and if real estate agents disclosed the known structural issues to the buyers, as is required by law.

But there are stories of survivors saying their parents or grandparents had no idea of the shape of the building. I realized South Florida has just exploded with their prices, but it's pretty common in the entire State as far as I can tell. Central Florida has doubled to tripled in the cost of housing in this past year. I would imagine that if one took the time to do it, Zillow would probably provide quite a bit of info on recently sold condos there. There is a news story saying that in 2019 many board members resigned because of the infighting of those who wanted to do the repairs and those who didn't. Just all very sad.

The search and rescue is horrid; they don't need covid added to the mix.

For some reason, our governor decided he only wanted cases reported weekly as we entered a new phase. My theory is he was embarrassed because of the fact our daily new cases were much higher then in the rest of the country. I follow worldometer and there are days where it is posted and we aren't doing well. But you are correct. They don't need the covid added along with the uncertainty of the newest storm possibly heading that way.

Being a cynic, I predict DeSantis and the Florida Legislature will pass some sort of bailout for the owners.

Cops & Firefighters Are Not Getting Vaccinated.

Let them suffer the consequences.

It is fucking amazing to me that people who supposedly care about saving and helping others, couldn't care less about getting a vaccine designed to do EXACTLY THAT.
