No more J&J for Florida's mass vaccination sites
Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccines will no longe be available at Floridas mass vaccination sites, at least not anytime soon. Thats because the federal government has stopped shipping that vaccine to Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday.
No sites are getting them now because we havent gotten a shipment from the federal government since May 2. That was the last time the state got J&J, DeSantis said Monday in Orlando. So theyve been farmed out as needed. But were now at the point where the stockpile is depleted.
DeSantis offered the explanation after Orange County officials announced that, effective Monday, they could no longer offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Camping World Stadium, the mass-vaccination site that DeSantis was visiting in Orlando.
DeSantis said if the state gets more, it will go out. But in the meantime, mass vaccination sites like Camping World Stadium will be offered the Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines, which require people to get two shots at least three weeks apart. At Camping World Stadium, officials provide the Pfizer vaccine.
