Orange County firefighters sue county over COVID-19 vaccine mandate

Nearly four dozen Orange County Fire Rescue employees sued the county Friday over its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, calling it “unlawful, unconstitutional and highly invasive.”

The lawsuit was filed a day after a Sept. 30 deadline imposed by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings requiring all county employees to show proof they have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the first dose of the double-shot Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

Employees must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 31 unless they request a religious or medical accommodation.

The 43 OCFR employees, which includes firefighters, paramedics, engineers and dispatchers, said they were regarded as “heroes” during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic but now their service is “treated as worthless if they have not accepted getting experimental medical treatment,” according to a complaint.

non tax payers job that does not require safety measure during the pandemic. I'd bet they are not against any requirement that public building have fire alarms, smoke detectors or fire escapes.

I live in Florida and this how dumb the people are that move here, for one thing mandating a vaccine is not unconstitutional nor unlawful. I for one would like to know who has not gotten a vaccine before they touch me when I go to a hospital or have to call the EMT. Did they put up a fuss about the flu shot, am guessing not. I cry for my state and the people who have died from Covid. Every day is a crap shoot when I go to work if I am going to be exposed or not, I work at a Nephrologist office with patient that are at risk and they are worried also when they see so many people walking around with no mask on like this is all over. Help vote our governor out please!! and Rubio and Scott!!!
