TheKetchupDeserveditHat RetweetedUnder a new civics program launched by Gov. DeSantis, the Florida DoE is partnering with Hillsdale College to offer professional training to public K-12 teachers. Here is what teachers were shown last week about:

See for yourself: the slides shown to teachers during Floridas civics training sessions

This is one of the slides shown during the Florida Department of Educations training series for civics and government teachers. George Washington, left, and Thomas Jefferson, right, were both slave owners. Special to the Herald
TALLAHASSEE
The Florida Department of Educations training of educators on new civics standards for K-12 public schools is underway and has prompted some critical comments. When Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the initiative last April, he said that it was designed to ensure our students are prepared to be great citizens. But several South Florida high school educators who sat through the first three-day session last week said they were alarmed that the states teaching methodology was infused with a Christian and conservative ideology.
The PDF files below are the presentation slides the department provided to the Herald/Times after a public records request. The materials only reflect the presentations, not the instruction that the state trainers delivered to public school teachers during the sessions. Educators interviewed by the Herald/Times said that most of their concerns took place during the explanation of the materials.

(4,100 posts)1. Guess when Florida students apply and are accepted into colleges in a different state,
They will have to take remedial History and Civics prior to starting their regular classes.

Both of those two were slaveholders. Jefferson never freed his, and bedded at least one.

(7,629 posts)3. Hillsdale College is a project of mine for over 60 years.
I had their number when I delivered newspapers on the hill. I knew then they were liars and hypocrites. Nothing has changed that realization. They corrupted my home town. Recently people associated with the college forced librarian to resign because she was inclusive. One of the things they didn't want kids to learn about was 2020 election. They are awash in money from right wing groups and spreading their cancer across America. And oh by the way they employed Ginni Thomas to get things done from the inside.
