Huge disappointment--Sarasota school board takeover by conservative DeSantis candidates

Sarasota public education suffered a blow yesterday--3 DeSantis endorsed school board candidates won places on our "local" school board. This takeover by "Mom's for Liberty" types means DeSantis will control our local schools. Public education in Florida will go down the corporate charter school hole with input from Hillsdale College.

1. Democracy being bought and corrupted by billionaires, media stands aside, awash in the ad cash!

Millions spent on school board races??

The soft underbelly of democracy was not meant to be torn apart like this…by feeding the media machine so much cash it can’t speak out, even against fascism, engorged and content as it has become.

School board is lectionary with political party slates? Shouldn’t even be a thing!

Best interest of the child, not the party! Is that too naive and quaint?

Is Sarasota some kind of MAGA Heaven? It seems a coincidence that I know of 4 people who moved there from Ohio who were all crazy MAGATs. One of them, my cousin, was a Navy veteran.

ReThuglicans are swarming here and crawling around like locusts. A local Trump lickspittle state politician Gruters welcomed the Tangerine Turdball in 2016. Downhill from there. But it was crazy before--Rick Scott (aka Voldemort), anyone?

5. These Q people did a sweep in many areas in Florida. We won't recognize the school

System in a few short years. They even elected Q election deniers for hospital board here. Not one medical physician is on the board anymore.
