The primary witness had apparently been convicted of previously lying about a politician having sex with an underage partner.

They can get away with it? I have an idea. How about we get some prosecutors around this nation who are more interested in justice than worrying about how they and/or their political future might look if they lose a case? Yes? Maybe? Hopefully??

Rather "if you can't prove it in court - you shouldn't charge someone"

The "beyond a reasonable doubt to a unanimous jury" standard applies to people we don't like too.

Lightning-rod opponents are naturally presumed guilty until proven innocent on political chat sites... but that isn't the legal standard.

And despite the fact that you (we) don't like it - jurors are still not particularly impressed with weasels, cons, convicted felons and proven liars as witnesses. I know .. strange!

Bring them a winnable case ... And they'd be quite happy to go after a smug, rich boy politician. Happens all the time.

Delay, delay, delay, then sink into oblivion.

They did have the receipts and the accomplice who was willing to talk, but apparently that wasn't enough i's and t's.

and there was zero (0) noise about him in the local news except one article stating the gov. was giving him a pass due to "concrete" evidence.
But, it was to be expected from those who know how local Florida politics work and their reach into national politics.

They couldn’t make a strong case that would convince a jury.

A lot of DU’ers read newspapers online when they get the time.

It helps them to keep up with current events.
