Same guy who introduced me to the company head, "This is so and so. She isn't a virgin. I know because I sat in on the interview."
They all have domination in mind.

(113,130 posts)She saw dead people, so we knew she was off, but it was night shift and she did her job and we were all a little off one way or another, it's why we all gravitated to night shift.
Turned out she was keeping "dossiers" on all of us and calling the FBI and CIA every day. Yeah, she was fired. I wish I'd been able to read mine but they weren't shared. Damn it.
I've wondered what happened to her, if she ever managed to get some help, the licensing board is good about that from time to time. I hope so. A little bonkers is tolerable, massive paranoia needs some help.

had it mostly right in 1984, the only thing he got totally wrong was that it isn't the Government you have to worry about, it is all the CORPORATIONS..............
Government merging with Corporations equals FASCISM..............

(11,607 posts)this is a state college and she is an educator.
How is this business email? I'm trying to wrap my head around how research at a public school can be taken by the state for political reasons.
Something isn't right here.

(1,922 posts)If you're not paying for the email, then somebody else is ... and they own it
and set the rules.
How many people read the terms & conditions on their gmail account? How
many people read the terms & conditions from their IT department? How
many people are surprised that their email (and calendars and ...) are subject
to discoveries?
The biggest problem here is that the person is in Florida ....

There is NO presumption of privacy if you use the universitys computers for email or work. (Some have discovered the hard way that there is likewise no presumption of privacy if you cruise for porn.)
Use your own phone. Use your own computer. Never confuse theirs and yours, especially if part of your job involves taking your employers computer home.
Do. Not. Do. It.
I worked on the staff side, not the academic side. Academics are accustomed to having more freedom in how they use their time, especially in the old days. But the institution is an employer, and they can invoke their own rights, which are considerable.

(113,130 posts)That is just lovely. I'd certainly cancel my email account with the university. Sometimes "free" is far too expensive to maintain.

(255 posts)And that's the problem. They don't think .. They don't think it will impact them, only others, nut in the end it usually does impact them though.
Although I understand and have lived in the Corporate America world and know the rules on Corporate time, use of corp technology and intellectual property assigning back to the corporation. But this is taking it another level when Big Brother comes for you over work emails. Now we have to worry about the word police. 1984 is a baby tale compared some of this stuff the GOP is trotting out. They want to control women, libraries, schools, colleges, work places, and all social aspects of American life. But don't talk about guns, or God! And lets not forget about the mighty job creators tax cuts, remember, it will all trickle down Remind me again of the party that is for small government? Republicans love to have government when it comes to town with cash after a tornado or hurricane hits.
