What is it about Florida boaters and Trump??

Boater here. Just went from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale and back through Okeechobee Waterway. Out this weekend too. Get out about 2-3 times a month in Tampa Bay and along Gulf Intercoastal. Traversing some ruby red counties.

Ugh.

Trump 2024, MAGA , "Take Back America," and "F Biden" flags (BIG obnoxious ones too) just catch my eye and they seem to be everywhere. Maybe less so than 2016 and 2020 (maybe?). Don't get me started on sandbar life and how they've overun that. Waterfromt homes also. Large signs and flags along waterways.

Truly, help me. What is it about the psyche of Florida boaters that are so enthralled with Trump and why do they go out of their way to put it IN...YOUR... FACE?

White privilege and affluence?? Tacky trash?? "I've got mine, F you"??

Just takes a little joy out of getting on the water.

It truly is Magaritaville, like a virus, they have infected every corner of Florida.
It used it be really nice here in Southwest Florida.

Lived on Marco Island during the 1980s, my mom lives in Fort Myers, more family in Sarasota.

In the 1980s there was the Confederate flag types and the golf course types. Both racist AF but living and talking differently. They've grown to be allies over the years. Lots more people, the beginnings of sea level rise, it looks different. But the same stuff, conditions in Immokalee and Rice, the greed, the haves and have nots, white privilege, poorly managed police, it's more alike than different from 1984 to 2024.

water temps in the gulf are around 90 degrees already. I don't know how warm the cross florida/Okachobee water is but they'll be read tide and green algae outbreaks coming up shortly and those boats won't be going no where. Ain't nothing like tossing money into a hole in the water that you can't use .
