(8,377 posts)they don't want to seize the schools. They want to seize the money going to those schools, turning it over to for-profit charter companies. They don't give a shit about the students because they will keep enough of a shell of a public system running as a dumping ground for all the students the charter company doesn't want to deal with.

Here's the answer:
"They want to seize the money"
From "Watergate" - "Follow the money!"

(12,261 posts)I had to read that damned amendment very very carefully to get the gist of what it was doing.
Explain to your Democratic friends and family that this will further erode our public education system by diverting taxpayer dollars into private corporations.
And simplify things for your republican friends - just tell them that this will cause taxes to go up.
This is a horrible amendment, definitely intended to weaken our public schools while enriching charter school corporations and can't be allowed to pass.
