Georgia
Related: About this forumSo, our Gov. is opening up stores, barber shops, nail salons, Restaurants. etc. Are YOU going out
right away? I'm not. I don't think anybody really knows where this virus is, or who has it. I'm sticking in the house for a while and watch to see what happens.

(3,178 posts)only go for groceries once every week or so because I have to, and hate it....mask and gloves at lower traffic times. I just learned today my neighbor three apts down (I live in a senior 6 plex with outside entrances and small shared porches) had the virus clear back in Jan with pneumonia (although not hospitalized). She was out walking her dog and we were about 15 feet apart, made me nervous even though she said she is totally recovered... Oh, I don't live in GA but if I did,,,I won't go out here in KS either.

(45,806 posts)surprised she didn't let the other residents know about it back in Jan/Feb. That would hvae been the thoughtful thing to do. Since you build up an imunity to it once you've had it, she's one of the safest people for you to be around now.

(3,178 posts)I'm not sure she knew what she had (although she did say she tested positive for Covid). I knew she was ill back then but all I heard around the complex was pneumonia. Really sweet lady, glad she made it...

(9,931 posts)I'll wait as long as need be to resume normal activities. I can't even imagine going to the gym under these circumstances, let alone a barber/beauty shop.

(1,237 posts)We get groceries via curbside pickup and a few other absolute essentials shipped to the house. Other than that, we're not going out, period.
I'm not letting a numbnuts like Kemp make life-and-death decisions for me. He can't even PRONOUNCE COVID. He was the genius who said he had no idea it could be spread by asymptomatic people -- after this was known and widely discussed for weeks and weeks.
I feel very bad for people in service occupations who will be forced to go back to work under these conditions. I hope no businesses I've frequented in the past will cave in to this winger batshittery. Like I said in another thread, any hair salon owner who forces their people back to work when we've still got a raging epidemic is on my shitlist forever, and I'll badmouth them until I'm cold in the grave.

I wouldn't even if I lived there.

(45,806 posts)would she go out and about like normal. She said NO! Wait to see when DT gets all his Pub Governors to reopen their States and few people go back to normal. He seems to think the economy & life in general will instantly go back to normal so he can go back to touting the great economy he's responsible for so everybody has to re-elect him in Nov.

(2,649 posts)But, yes, I'm going out. I'm not going to be reckless, and I will keep my social distancing, but it's time, at least for me. Those at high risk should stay home. Those that are not can choose to assume the risk and keep the economy running so that we can afford to support those at risk.
There is also a huge risk of death from other causes if the economy plunges into a depression. Poverty, homelessness, depression, loss of medical coverage, break up of marriages. There are unintended consequences to the actions we have taken.

I can't think of anything I want to do that I can't do now. I don't belong to a gym, I pretty much hate shopping, and I have more crap on my dvr that I can possibly watch any time soon.
Not judging. Just wondering what it is people want to do. Work? Bowl? Get a haircut?
