Travis McMichael defends shooting Arbery, testifies he feared for his life

Ahmaud Arbery’s killer testified during his murder trial Wednesday that he feared for his life when he fired the fatal shots, ending a five-minute chase of the 25-year-old Black man through a suburban Glynn County neighborhood on Feb. 23, 2020.

In Travis McMichael’s four-hour testimony, he repeated that he reacted to the “totality of circumstances” of Arbery being spotted several times at the construction site of a new home in the Satilla Shores neighborhood combined with concerns about property crime. That prompted him and two other white men to chase an unarmed Arbery, leading to the younger McMichael firing three shotgun blasts that day.

Travis McMichael is set to return to the stand Thursday for more cross-examination by prosecutors as he, his father Greg McMichael, and his neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, face potential life sentences in the murder and kidnapping of Arbery.

A couple of weeks after Travis McMichael first encountered Arbery, he says he relied on his training he received while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard when responding to his frantic father alerting him that Arbery was in the suburban Brunswick neighborhood.

all armed and in pick-ups, chased down an unarmed, Black jogger and killed him with shotgun blasts. And this racist asshole has the nerve to testify that he was scared for his life when the three cornered the outnumbered Arbery while in the protection of their trucks, then gunned him down.

He was the one afraid for his life and for good reason. They killed him.

They provoke the situation and assume the victim doesn't have the right to fight for his life. This nonsense has to stop!

I was saying to myself, is this an insanity defense? This guy is a dyed-in-the-wool, unreconstructed, degenerate racist/white supremacist. Real simple. He had no reason to interact with Mr. Arbery, none. He didn't claim he caught him crawling out of a window, smacking his neighbor, and running, nothing. If he can't prove, Mr. Arbery committed a crime. It should be an automatic 50-year sentence.

If they suspected him of committing a crime, why didn't they just call the police and slowly follow from behind without pointing guns? This was a hunting expedition.

It is not their job to follow closely behind or "stalk" anyone.

If they felt a crime was in progress, they should have called the cops. Pretty sure police can use a map. They played police because they felt entitled to do whatever the fuck they wanted because they are white, and the guy jogging was black in their eyesight.

He feared for his life while chasing an unarmed jogger while he was in a truck. He feared for his life when he was chasing someone else and pointing a gun at him. Either he's a liar, or a pussy.

I have taken walks in our former neighborhood where new homes were being constructed and I went on the sites several times to see what was new and different as newer homes became larger and more elaborate. It is a natural curiosity that was shared be numerous neighbors who discussed the newer homes. If it had been white people I doubt that this incident would have ever taken place. Is it any wonder that Black people fear and distrust White folks who have a history of enslaving, beating and lynching them with impunity and of which they justified with their selected reading of their Bibles.

In his four hour testimony, he reapeated that he jumped to unwarranted conclusions regarding Arbery being black several times in public where McMichael could see him in the Satilla Shores neighborhood combined with some bullshit about imaginary, unreported property crime to someone else's property. That prompted him to grab a gun and some buddies to play vigilante and shoot a negro dead by truck hunting an unarmed Arbery, leading to the younger racist vigilante killer to fire three shotgun blasts to get his racist rocks off.

Yeah, McMichael is NOT a law enforcement officer. He is not authorized to play judge jury and executioner for anyone. He impersonated a cop and he and his dad (apple..tree...gravity) hunted a black person for shits and giggles because TFG made hatred and vitriol acceptable.

Vigilantism is not Law and Order.
He's a stone cold racist killer. Good luck in prison, doughboy!
