Related: About this forumReport from the 1st day of early voting in my Northeast GA county: big voter turnout!
Yesterday (Monday October 17) I voted early, in-person at my county Board of Elections office.
There was a long line of people stretching up the sidewalk. While we waited in line, poll workers brought us clipboards & pens to fill out the paperwork to give to the official inside, who then checked our ID and issued our poll card. It was an absolutely beautiful fall day! Everyone was excited and energized to vote!
As usual, the BoE employees and poll workers were running a very professional and efficient operation. It took me about 30 minutes to vote. Our county Board of Elections always does a great job!
When I left about 4pm, the line was as long as when I arrived!
A Board of Elections official told me that people were lined up to vote at 7am that morning. She said that the BoE office didnt even open until 8am, and voting wasnt even scheduled to start until 9am!
She told me that people had been coming to vote all day long! The line never got shorter.
The turnout was big, yall! 😀 Way to go, my fellow citizens! 🙌
GOTV for Democrats up & down the ballot! 🗳🍑🇺🇸

(7,962 posts)Thanks for the post. Too much gloom about polls. Great to hear what's going on at the actual polls.

Ask the cashiers at the stores where you shop if they have a plan to vote. Talk to everyone!

(21,615 posts)I know that the Fulton County Board of Elections is a target of Kemp, Ratffensperger, and the GA GOP.
The GOP has done everything possible to make voting less easy and less accessible in the mist populous county in Georgia.
GOTV Fulton County! 🗳🍑🇺🇸

(7,038 posts)And when we were there voting, at least 75-80% of the voters were women.

(21,615 posts)There were lots of women voting when I was voting yesterday. As a woman, I was really happy to see that kind of turnout by us ladies!
I saw all sorts of women: black, white, gay, straight, students, workers, & professionals.
There were women of all ages, except for the very elderly, who I hope will be voting by absentee ballot.
Please keep us updated on voting turnout in DeKalb County.

(198 posts)Is showing short waits at all 11 AIP locations. I need to take care of voting today. And I was able to get the BoE office to straighten out my employment status, so I'll be working November.
