Muscogee Co. Elections Board files suit against Georgia State Election Board

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Five days before early voting starts in Georgia, it will soon be up to a judge to decide if Muscogee County will have to hand count your ballots.

It’s one of many rule changes from the State Election Board that has gained national attention. Now, the Muscogee County Board of Elections and Registration will be in court to find out what to do after votes are cast.

The lawsuit claims several things, but the most important is the concern over election workers having to hand count ballots. But you also asked what it will look like for voters. Not much of a difference when they cast their vote, but it’s once the polls are closed that’s coming into question.

We are less than 30 days away from voters heading to the polls for Election Day, but even closer to early voting happening in Georgia, just less than one week away. Now, the Muscogee County Board of Elections and Registration has filed a lawsuit claiming last-minute changes to election procedures in the state are too late.
