Cobb Turnout Remains Low on Election Day

MABLETON — Election Day Tuesday saw a boost in voter numbers, but overall participation remained low in the primaries for the District 2 and 4 seats on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Across 68 polling locations, 2,892 voters have shown up in-person as of 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Cobb Elections Director Tate Fall. This uptick follows a slow early voting period where only 3,307 people voted in-person and 26 voted by mail-in ballot.

“The staff have been really happy with the turnout (on Election Day),” Fall said. “We’re excited that voters are getting out and, even in rain, getting to their polling places ... Voters are getting out and doing their civic duty.”

Early voting for the special election ran from Feb. 1 to Feb. 7. Of early in-person voters, 2,907 voted in the Democratic primary and 400 voted Republican.
