Hawaii
Related: About this forumanyone around here living in or have lived in Guam or the CNMI?
I've been on Saipan for six months now and Hawaii is the closest point heading to the U.S. mainland. A lot of the T.V. programming here is out of Hawaii - even my bank account is now with Bank of Hawaii. Lots of the locals and ethnic Filipinos who live in the CNMI have lived or gone to school or have family in Hawaii.
The scenery, climate and demographics I think are probably most similar to Hawaii of anywhere else with in U.S. sovereignty
Anyway, just curious if there is anyone around who has connections with these parts just east of you about 2000 miles.

(4,828 posts)That is where I learned to love the tropics snorkeling the reefs there was quite an experience. I was hoping to go back someday and I just might but this time I'll do the steering to get there on my Sailboat that I live on all do to the experience I had in Guam then Hawaii and Okinawa.

(20,226 posts)and I must admit when I land at the airport it does kind of feel that way. I guess though the basic atmosphere of the Pacific is somewhat similar.. It's hard to imagine living on the U.S. mainland again. After getting used to a so much more laid back kind of place.

(4,828 posts)The last time I went to Mexico where my ex was from and then she dumped me, now she tells me about how hard it is to deal with the 25mile drive to work the same one she had before we escaped. Yet she does not remember that. I have a plan and I'm close to escaping the rat race once again as you can see above the vessel of my departure is now my home just a little more refurbishing and I'll be ready to split for tropical climes.

in the Marina which is attached to the American War Memorial Park - I love walking down there in the morning. I usually end up with about three or four local boony dogs following me. Even the dogs are mellow. - and the cars stop to let them cross the street
