Illinois
Related: About this forumA while back we were driving back to Chicago from NC and wanted to visit Golconda, ILL...
We went through Padukah, Ky on the interstate and saw a sign "Golconda, Il 20 miles north. OK!
So we drove the required 20 miles north, got some gas and then looked around for a sign to Golconda....found one "Golconda, 20 miles south" !!!) What?
So we drove 20 miles back south from whence we had come....and found the pleasant, sleepy little town.
Can anyone explain the weird route?
Thanks very much.

That's gotta be it.

The real question is: why would anyone want to go to Golconda, IL?

(7,502 posts)When we drove the 20 back south there should have been ANOTHER sign saying....Golconda - 20 miles north again - back and forth til we wear our the tires and grow (more) grey hair.
