Questions About The Fox Lake Killing....

1. Did they get ballistics info on the gun?
2. What part of the body was shot?
3. How many shots were fired into the body?
4. Was the cop pursuing these three guys on foot or were they (the cop & the killers) in cars?
5. Did he finally get them to stop and pull over and get shot as he approached their car?

These are some of the questions I had.

1. Qualifier. I live ten miles from Fox Lake

#1 If they recovered bullets or shell casings, they have ballistic evidence.
#2 I heard he was shot in the head.
#3 If #2 is true, after being shot in the head does it really matter how many more bullets this guy took? He's still dead.
#4 He was on patrol and stumbled upon a robbery in progress. Chances are he pursued the guys of foot. He told dispatch he was in pursuit of 2 white dudes and a black dude. That was the last anyone heard from him. When backup arrived they found him dead.
#5 Seriously doubt this was a traffic stop gone bad.

The real tragedy of this is he should have never even been there. He was to retire a month ago after 30 years and they asked him to stick around a little bit longer.
The guys commitment to public service ultimately cost him his life.

2. Update

Update on #4 and #5

Events unfolded quickly according to investigators' timeline, spanning just 17 minutes. Lt. Gliniewicz reported the suspicious men at 7:52 a.m. and when backup officers arrived three minutes later they could not find their fellow officer. At 8:09 a.m. they found him unresponsive in a wooded and weeded area not far from his patrol car.

Lt. Gliniewicz's call said only that two of the suspicious men were white and one was black.

"That was the original radio traffic given by the officer when called in the suspicious person, and that was the only description provided," Chief Filenko said. "The scene where the lieutenant's body was found is an abandoned concrete factory. Despite the fact that it took only three minutes for back up to arrive, as you can see there are lots of place to hide and easy escape to be had."

4. Update - 10:55 pm 09/02

Five miles from Fox Lake, there is a heavy police presence in Volo after a report of two people running though a field, according to CBS Chicago.
Police set up a perimeter in Volo, late Wednesday evening. Police received a report of two people darting through a field.

K9 units and a police helicopter have been called in.

Earlier Wednesday, police acknowledged that they had no indication the suspects were still in the area where the slaying happened.

Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, a 32-year police veteran, was on patrol Tuesday morning in Fox Lake when he made a radio call saying he was running after three suspicious people. He was allegedly shot to death by the suspects.

5. I heard/read he was shot twice; once in the vest and once in the head.

The morning it happened they were reporting that he had been shot in the head at close range.

He first came upon them while driving his car on his normal patrol. He saw them standing near the abandoned concrete plant and pulled over. He radioed it in and stopped. They took off when they saw him stop. He radioed that in as well and said he was going after them on foot. That is when backup was sent. They said yesterday during the press briefing that the suspects did not have a car.

7. please don't drag me but...

Now, I'm not sure of anything regarding this cops death. Too many stories and not one suspect. Did he commit suicide? I know his family said he didn't but Sandra Blands family said the same thing. Of course he wouldn't tell anyone what he was thinking. Descriptions of suspects vary too. I don't have a beef with cops but they aren't above doing dirt just to get one of theirs out of the line if fire. If he was killed i hope they catch the person (s). I hope they get the real killer and not just a anybody and John Burge him or them.
