Gov. Rauner to sign early childhood law; Diana Rauner to attend

CHICAGO -- Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner is set to sign early childhood legislation at an event with his wife, Diana Rauner, in attendance.

Rauner's office says the governor and Diana Rauner will appear Thursday afternoon at the Mary Crane Center on Chicago's West Side.

The nonprofit group started at Jane Addams' Hull House in the early 1900s. Today it offers early childhood development services to underprivileged children and families.

The governor's office says the legislation he will sign into law expands early childhood opportunities for children under age 3.

Schools are cutting programs, nursing homes and assisted living facilities are closing, Universities are losing staff and qualified teachers are leaving the state for greener pastures, businesses who have contracts with the state are not being paid.

He did, however, finally sign a special bill to pay off State Lottery winners.

Priorities, you know.
