Sorensen pleads guilty to wire fraud; sentencing in March

CHICAGO – Former McLean County Board Chairman Matt Sorensen pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single count of wire fraud during a 20-minute hearing in U.S. District Court for the Northern District in Chicago.

Federal prosecutor Sunil R. Harjani read portions of a 16-page plea agreement in which Sorensen admitted to conspiring with co-defendant Navdeep Arora to defraud McKinsey & Co., a Chicago consulting firm, of almost $500,000 in unearned consulting fees.

Sorensen was indicted in August 2015 on five counts of wire fraud related to his work as an internal consultant for State Farm.

According to charges, Sorensen schemed with Arora, a consultant with McKinsey & Co., to submit false claims to the Bloomington-based insurance firm.
