State agencies told to evaluate if vacant jobs can be moved to Springfield

State agencies under Gov. Bruce Rauner are being told to decide if vacant positions can be moved to Sangamon County as part of the process to fill the jobs.

A memo was issued by the Department of Central Management Services Wednesday that outlines the procedures needed for agencies to transfer jobs – either vacant or currently occupied – to the state capital.

CMS acting director Michael Hoffman said the memo was issued in response to a legislative resolution that asked agencies to identify jobs that could potentially be relocated to Sangamon County from other parts of the state.

"Based on this workforce study, agencies identified a significant number of positions that rightfully belong in Sangamon County, the location of the capital of the state of Illinois," Hoffman said in the memo.
