(24,931 posts)a matter of time until we fill up our hospitals here in Illinois. Yes, we do mask better and have a sane governor. But, we need people to vaccinate.

(714 posts)And I can some of my covidiot relatives (who are NOT trumpsters) - they are part of the small percentage who are plain old afraid of a needle. I am not fond of needles either but I sucked it up and got a flu shot for the first time last year (Faucci said good idea, I believe him) and the covid vax.
But yes, the non-vax areas are rural areas. Ones that want to "break away from Chicago and become our own state". Yeah, sans Chicago, IL would be right in the bottom 10% of US states. You can't fix stupid and frankly at this point, I wish the ERs/ICUs would bump the anti-vaxxers. Stupidity should not give priority to a real emergency/ICU need.

(18,402 posts)I just checked the COVID dashboard for the City of Chicago. Yes, there are just under 20% of ICU beds available at the moment.
Of the total 1,102 ICU beds in the citys hospitals, 94 are being occupied by COVID patients. 800 are being occupied by non-COVID patientsyou know, people there for entirely different reasons, like heart attacks and recovering from bypass surgery, organ transplants, gunshot wounds, car accidents, etc.
Life goes on outside Covid.
