Putnam County has referendum on the ballot for construction of a new school, other improvements

MCNABB, Ill. (WMBD) — Tens of millions of dollars are on the ticket for Putnam County on Nov. 5.

“We don’t want to lose our school, we want to keep our school,” said Michelle Fessler, a Putnam County resident.

On July 16, the board of education in Putnam County adopted a resolution to go to referendum which is deciding if $34 million in bonds should be issued for school improvements.

Areas of improvement for the schools, as outlined in a handout at the meeting, include aging buildings, safety and security and outdated learning.
