GOP says Hogsett violated Hatch Act.

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2014/08/13/republicans-says-hogsett-violated-us-attorney-campaign-rules/13996231/

<<<County GOP Chairman Kyle Walker claimed there was circumstantial evidence that Hogsett discussed a run for mayor with Democratic insiders while still a federal prosecutor, a violation of the Hatch Act.

The law forbids certain employees in the federal branch of government from engaging in partisan political activity. It means that Hogsett would not have been allowed to organize a campaign before his resignation.>>>

The "evidence" is Evan Bayh praising Hogsett's record on the day Hogsett resigned as U.S. attorney and another possible mayoral candidate stepping aside so that Hogsett could run.

If I had to guess, having not read the Hatch Act myself, that this is a very, very LOOSE interpretation of that law, and even more evidence that the GOP sees Hogsett as a threat. Good. I don't live in Marion County but I am really looking forward to this campaign.
