BMV wants Hoosiers to pick state's new license plate design

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is asking Hoosiers to help decide what Indiana’s standard license plate should look like after the state’s bicentennial is over.
The agency unveiled three proposed designs at the Indiana State Fair Friday. Hoosiers have until Sept. 5 to vote for their favorite on the BMV website at mybmv.com, or in person at the Indianapolis fairgrounds through Aug. 21.
“We have three interesting designs and I hope all state residents will vote and let us know which one they like the best,” said BMV Commissioner Kent Abernathy.
One is nearly identical to the current white plate but replaces the “200” from the state outline on the left side with the torch image from the state flag. It also substitutes “The Hoosier State” for “Bicentennial 1816-2016” at the bottom.
