MMM resigns her state senate seat. Special election Jan. 26th

from email: (Iowa Senate Dems)

Earlier today, Senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks announced she will be resigning from her position as the Senator from Senate District 41 and will be temporarily seated in the United States House. That means we are heading down to Ottumwa and Fairfield for a special election!

Governor Reynolds announced this afternoon that the special election for Senate District 41 will be held on January 26th -- just under 30 days!!

That being said, we now have a big challenge on our hands to flip this seat blue.

Senator Miller-Meeks represents a competitive seat down in Southeast Iowa, (check out the map below). This seat was won by Obama in 2008 and 2012, Congressman Loebsack in 2018, and very narrowly lost by Auditor Rob Sand in 2018. Not to mention, in 2017 House Democrats were able to flip the more rural half of this senate seat from red-to-blue with Phil Miller!

(note: I will refer to Miller-Meeks as 3M from here on out on this board)

Used to be heavy union (meat packing) decades ago. Many got sucked in by Trump's bullshit.

And Pelosi said she would be seated, even though her opponent is contesting the results. The timing on this seems strange, doesn't it?
