The group which is calling itself the "Hughes Project" after former Iowa Gov. Harold Hughes is circulating a survey to Democrats at every level of state and local politics to gauge what went well and what fell flat.
Democrats invested heavily in the 2020 election, feeling confident in their candidates and organization. But they were surprised by heavy losses once the votes were counted.

I was a little bit surprised that Ernst won. Silly me.

(15,698 posts)The Iowa SOS sent out a memo praising his department for running one of the best elections, especially considering Covid. Well! The Iowa Legislature did not like that one bit! Time to create some barriers to all that dangerous voting going on.

(50,748 posts)I found out recently that he and his family had to suffer through death threats and vandalism from 2007 to 2016 because of Mike's staunch support for marriage equality and women's rights.
