They had to get control of the state with so much influence over the Presidential contest.

I believe the disastrous mess of the Democratic caucuses were a direct result of Koch meddling and one of the main reasons the Democratic moved their primary out of Iowa

And the NRA has been known to be a big donor here in the past. Lots of dirty money flooded in here during election cycles. Even in minor races.

Look out South Carolina, it's gonna get ugly.

That would be a great thing for Iowa. He could actually get the money to run a real campaign.

I have known Rob for about ten years, was a big supporter of his campaign for state auditor--and I have never even been to Iowa! We do keep in touch frequently, though.

After so many years of Iowa Republicans spouting utter horse crap, and their voters eating it up as if it were honey, Rob is a change in the wind there, and the entrenched Iowa Republicans are terrified of him. Rob is a kind of Democrat with whom they are not used to dealing: home-grown, smart and honest.

We keep in touch regularly, and my urging that he look to a higher statewide office seems to finally be gaining some favor with him. Howard seemed very impressed with him when I first put them in touch, and I hope Howard will lend his wisdom if Rob decides to shoot for Senator or Governor (I suspect Governor). He hasn't decided yet, but he is definitely leaning in that direction.
