Iowa's race for governor: Hubbell raises $3 million, Reynolds $1.3 million

Iowa’s candidates for governor have raised nearly $6 million so far this year, according to newly released campaign finance reports.

Gov. Kim Reynolds, who has no GOP challenger for the June 5 primaries, raised $1.3 million and had $4.2 million cash on hand, according to reports filed Monday. The reporting period covers Jan. 1 through May 14.

Fred Hubbell, a retired businessman, led all Democratic Party candidates for governor, raising $3 million; Cathy Glasson, a union leader and nurse, raised $593,000; state Sen. Nate Boulton, $510,000; Andy McGuire, a medical professional, $291,000; John Norris, a former state and federal staffer, $236,000; and Ross Wilburn, the former mayor of Iowa City, $7,700.

Most of Hubbell’s contributions were self-funded. His campaign reported $920,000 in contributions from other donors.
