1. It conveniently allows him to ignore ALL evidence

He can say maybe it was wrong, but a Senate impeachment conviction trial can't be applied to a former President.

2. It's an open question whether a former president can be impeached.

That is irrelevant, however, because a former president hasn’t been impeached. Trump was a sitting president when he was impeached.

This nimrod is attempting to conflate impeachment with what inevitably follows it: trial and possible conviction. And if convicted, a vote on whether to bar him from ever holding office again.
