I have contacted the county Democratic party where I live but waiting to hear from them. Recall or impeach - doesn't matter to me! Just get him out of office!

That would be great. We may find the upper echelon of the Kansas Democratic part is already gearing up for something. They'd better be. No reason to have something like brownback governing our state. Let alone his attempt to drive us into the ground on extra taxes and diminished state services.

I'm retired and willing to contribute..time, and effort.

5. The diff between impeachment and recall

Recall or Impeachment of a government official. An impeachment requires a high crime from the politician and then its voted on by the legislature.

A recall is where citizens go through a process that has been codified by the legislature to remove an elected politician before their term ends.

Carlos Alverez (recalled with 88% of the vote). A recall is done by the voters. CA Gov Grey Davis was also recalled. I think an attempt was made to recall Schwarznegger also.

For all intents and purposes, you may call a recall a "revote" - because it's the voters who get "recalled" to see if they would still elect him. An impeachment is a hearing by a legislative body to determine if an act has been committed by politician that makes them ineligible to continue to hold office. A recall is a secondary election that can be initiated via petition.

I don't believe this "MoveOn" petition has any weight in KS except to get those bad feelings off our chest(s) about our guv!

6. Grounds for Recall from KS Statute 25-4301

Kansas: Conviction for a felony, misconduct in office, incompetence, or failure to perform duties prescribed by law. No recall submitted to the voters shall be held void because of the insufficiency of the grounds, application, or petition by which the submission was procured. (KS Stat. §25-4301)

I would say incompetence is key here.

Kansas (rules for circulating recall petitions)
All elected public officers in the state except judicial officers (subject to recall)
40% of the votes cast in the last election for the official being recalled (# of signatures required)
90 days (time limit to acquire signatures)

IF enough signatures are obtained and verified, the person being recalled appoints the successor (from the same party as the person being recalled! (rats) and must be selected from a list provided by the committee of the person being recalled.

NOT all states allow for recalls and the rules differ for each state.
