Bossier City voters can expect term limits on the December ballot

Bossier City voters will get a chance to vote on city term limits this December.

District Court Judge Parker Self ruled in favor of the writ of mandamus filed by term limits coalition member Mae Rogers and directed the city council to take action to put term limits on the December ballot.

If term limits are passed by the voters it would limit the mayor and council members to serving three terms.

Attorney for Bossier City Andrew Kolb argued to the judge last week that the petition to let the voters decide about term limits did not seem clear enough for council members to proceed with a yes vote for a resolution asking the state bond commission to place the issue on an upcoming ballot.
