PSC District 2 election nears, candidates speak on utility prices and more

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - “Louisianians want safe communities, they want jobs and opportunity, and they want affordable energy,” said District Two Public Service Commission candidate Jean Paul Coussan.

Republicans Jean Paul Coussan and Julie Quinn, along with Democrat Nick Laborde explained how they feel progress could be made in terms of Louisiana energy, including utility fees.

“Our electric prices are very reasonable in Louisiana it’s the fees. Those are a result of the hardening of the grid.”

Laborde agrees that fees have been crippling families for some time and thinks the utility companies need to cater to the consumer more.
