This week on the Beacon podcast, Taryn Ben and Mike discuss Sen. Susan Collins strange claim that a U.S. senator shouldnt discuss publicly whether the president has committed crimes. In 1998, she said Congress had a constitutional obligation to conduct an inquiry into Clinton. They also cite a new report from the Congressional Research Service showing how wrong she was about the Trump tax cuts.
Also: An interview with Oamshri Amarasingham, policy director for the ACLU of Maine, on the newly-passed internet privacy bill.
And Kenney Miller, executive director of the Health Equity Alliance, joins to discuss the importance of funding the safe syringe law in the budget.
Plus: Updates on the state budget negotiations, final approval of the paid sick days law and some book, podcast and TV recommendations that will give you some hope.

(41,379 posts)She puts on this act like she is the sweet lady living next door. Actually, she is full of shit. If anyone ever had any doubts about her full blown hack status just review her announcement that she was voting for Kavanaugh. Recall this massive bullshit: "I have no doubt that Dr. Blasey-Ford was attacked. But I think she is confused about who her attacker was.."
I hope she is humiliated on election day and is voted out of office.

(9,426 posts)"thinks" until she is told by the gop. No original ideas, no spine, no character. A puppet for the gop. I hope she goes down in flames at the next election. The only ones she "represents" is herself and the gop. Her constituents have been fooled by her for too long.

(37,648 posts)A single U S Senator talking publicly about his/her opinion on crimes by a sitting President is not the same thing as Congress as a whole conducting a formal inquiry into possible crimes. And what tax cuts have to do with that is beyond me. Seems like a hit piece on her, Maine-style.
