Hate

I have been wondering why there is so much hate in this country and why people hate. I have read many articles and listened to some very intelligent people on the subject. I have come to the conclusion that it is not only a matter of race or religion and such. However, the bottom line seems to be that "I do not like people that are not me". The president has eluded to and hinted that he supports the way these people feel. The saddest part of this is that these people who hate will not change how they feel until they hurt and suffer themselves. The situation that will change people's attitude will cause everyone pain and suffering along with them. I can only hope that people's attitudes will change soon and only then will America be great again.

That's about it. It's part of the human condition at this point in our evolution. Goes back to "Watch out for the devils in Cave #3-- they mean us harm."

Do some searches on "fight or flee responses" and the amygdala, which have a lot to do with those fear responses. Free will is not as free as we might like it to be.

And note that the fact that we are biologically inclined to hate "the other" does not excuse it at all.

Is separate from, but influenced by, your brain. Mind is also influenced by Soul. The brain prompts selfpreservation, but has the incidental effects of egoism, selfishness, materialism, envy and whatever you might consider as negative, petty character traits. The soul, which is perfect but unfortunately tiny in many people, derives from the same source in all cases and reflects the nature of its origin...the Good. The Good manifests as compassion, generosity, kindness...what we consider spiritual qualities.

Prejudice, racism, anti semitism...these come from brain because they're attached to ego. In such people, the soul does not have enough size/greatness/strength to counteract the brain's selfishness. You cannot be great and petty at the same time. Heroism, sacrifice, is soul driven.

Nowadays, brain qualities have become mainstream goals. Soul is ignored. Our materialistic culture doesn't help.

3. I think transference of self-loathing is a major factor, too.

In the same way one's own disappointment and frustration with one's own defects can make one more apt to be bothered by the same defect in someone else, some apparent hate of others is just misappropriated self-hate.
