from Chris VanHollen:

'Throughout our history, the right to dissent has been a fundamental component of our democracy. Without dissent and protest we would not have had the civil rights movement, the women’s movement, the labor movement, the movement for marriage equality — and the list goes on. Of all the dangerous attributes of this new Administration, its view that dissent — in the press, by civil servants, and even the public — is somehow illegitimate and should be silenced is the one that puts it most dangerously close to the philosophy of despots and dictators.

Dissent is more important today than ever before for that very reason, and we need to be prepared to keep it up until our voices are heard — in the White House or at the polls!'
