from Jamie Raskin:

'I’m thrilled that the House of Representatives just passed my amendment to provide a $10 million funding increase for the Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program within the U.S. Army Medical Research & Materiel Command located at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. The Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program performs invaluable life-saving research into cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. I was proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to reach a bipartisan compromise with the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense to increase funding for this program. As a cancer survivor and the Congressman who represents so many hard-working researchers, military personnel and public servants at Ft. Detrick, I am very proud to see this appropriations amendment boost public resources where they are so desperately needed and I feel especially proud that this is my first amendment to pass the House. I will continue to champion progress in medical research and look forward to working with colleagues in the Senate to ensure that PRCRP is fully-funded.'
